Thrift $tore

If I could describe the perfect clothing brand for me… then The Thrift Store would certainly be just that. It ticks all the boxes, with a wide array of unique one-off thrifty pieces, that appeals to my love of vintage denim and all things quirky, interesting and retro! But not only is it perfect for me… they also encapsulate the hearts of many, catering to all styles, ranging from bohemian, preppy, effortlessly smart all the way through to grunge.

I like to dress a little different sometimes as I feel the way we dress is what makes us who we are. Its what makes us unique. So I love brands like Thrift Store, that offer carefully sourced and individually thought out, one off garments! Enabling you to express your identity creatively through the way you dress 🙂 So you CAN have your cake and eat it.. by following current fashion trends, yet staying exclusive in the way you dress by not falling into the trap of high-street sameness. Something I feel is really special about this store 🙂

So Thrift Store is crammed full of specifically sort out, trend led vintage pieces, Such as the following vintage denim pinafore dress:

Pinafore dresses, especially denim (much to my delight 🙂 ) are proving to be a huge must have this season, you can’t pick up a fashion magazine without reading about the style staple!! Being featured in current ELLE and Vogue magazines, and frequently worn by many of my personal favourite style setters such as Alexa Chung (just to name one). Therefore I love this denim dress, which is a real authentic piece, making it feel all that bit more special and exclusive.

Not only have I found my new go-to place for vintage gems. But I also feel very passionate about the message behind Thrift Store. As I have expressed in my previous blog posts, I am passionate about, thrifty ethical fashion. Which is why I champion this brand because everything is hand picked, and carefully sourced and researched to offer you the best clothing possible. So It perfectly fits into the beliefs I have around the clothing we wear. I’m also a lover of music especially the old classics, with my personal favourites being, The Smiths, Bowie, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, Pink Floyd, The Cure, Tom Petty.. I could go on for ever! But the thing I love about the Thrift store is that their clothing is also inspired  a lot by music and film. Influenced by past eras when Music carried with it a real image which is not acieved with modern top40 charts. A time when music was raw and something really special, where it was not just music but had the capability of shaping trends and determining the way people dressed! We all know the Punk era.. equally iconic for the way people dressed, likewise for the mods and rockers, and even the 90’s music influenced the way we dressed! Thrift Store have effectively created their own time machine allowing you to place yourself into any era by the clothes you wear  🙂

They also have great accessories that can be used to add a playful edge, such as a range of fun cat watches :

So whats special about Thrift Store, is that they focus on how the past can make our future, creating a combination of past and current fashions. Resulting in the perfect combination of unique yet fashion led clothing. Trends we see in shops and magazines are merely just styles from past eras coming back around again. So the Thrift Store, rather than focussing on one particular Vintage era or style, brings these past styles into the 21st century to aline and mix coherently with current trends. Such as this beautiful vintage shirt brought into alinement with modern denim trends when paired with the above dress to create the perfect combination of vintage and modern:

And finally to take the outfit into summer (yep it’s still summer, even if the british weather is trying its best to convince us we must be in autumn), add some holographic sunglasses to complete the look:

They currently sell through ASOS market place so are super accessible, and whats more… you can also get 10% discount of their clothing by using the code Olivia10. So go gooo… before I end up buying all their stock 🙂
